Luis Alberto Hernando Alzaga (born September 22, 1977 in Burgos ) is a Spanish biathlete and cross-country skier . He participated a total of three times in the Olympic Winter Games and Biathlon World Championships .

Luis Alberto Hernando made his international debut in 2002 in the context of competitions of the Biathlon World Cup in Obertilliach . In 2003 he contested his first race in the biathlon world cup in Hochfilzen and finished 112th in the sprint. The first major event was the 2004 Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof . In the individual he was 96. Then Hernando started in Östersund at the Biathlon Military World Championships in 2004 and was 99th in the sprint and 24th with the military patrol. In 2005 the Spaniard was 101st in the individual and 90th in the sprint at the World Championships in Hochfilzen. The most successful phase of the career was the 2005/06 season . Hernando achieved double-digit results several times. He achieved the best results in the competitions of the 2006 Olympic Games of Turin . In Cesana San Sicario he reached 80th place in the individual and 82nd in the sprint. The Spaniard has not had any international appearances in biathlon since the Olympic Games.

Since 2004, but especially since 2006, Hernando started cross-country skiing. In 2006 he won bronze over 10 kilometers at the Spanish championships in Candanchú . In 2008 he finished fourth. So far he has competed in cross-country skiing world cups three times , but has not achieved any placements close to the points.
