Eugen Leipner (born August 10, 1956 ) is a German long-distance and ultra runner .

He won the Twistesee Advent Marathon in 1990 with a time of 2:38:20 and was second behind Horst Gruber, like Eugen Leipner from Marburg, at the 1993 Kassel Marathon in 2:40:30 . He started at the German Ultramarathon Championships for the first time in 1995 when he finished 11th in Rodenbach over 50 km with 3:08:47 h , in Pfalzgrafenweiler over 100 km with 7:20:21 h and reached 4th place in September in Bobingen in the 24-hour race with 229.233 km DM second behind Michael Maier . In 1996 he won his first ultra run with the Fidelitas night run (80 km, 5:55:01 h) in and around Karlsruhe . Eugen Leipner also took part in the Spartathlon (245.3 km, 30:57:00 h), where he achieved 12th place in the overall ranking, as well as in the 100 km DM in Rodenbach, where he finished in 7:39: 33 h was also twelfth.

This was followed by the first appointment to the German national team for the 24-hour running European championships in Basel ( CHE ) in 1997 , where Eugen Leipner finished 16th with a total of 213.452 kilometers. He was unable to defend his victory in the Fidelitas night race in the same year, with a slightly slower running time of 6:03:23 h for the 80 km he was second behind Rainer Müller, 25 minutes behind . In June 1998 he was German champion in the 24-hour run in Scharnebeck with 234.206 kilometers, but the 1998 24-hour European championship in Marquette-lez-Lille ( FRA ) with only 115.113 km and a 100th place was disappointing in the overall ranking.

In 1999, Eugen Leipner started both in April at the 100 km DM in Troisdorf , where he finished 11th with 7:34:27 h , and in May at the 24 h DM in Basel, where he ran 175.876 km , which was enough for a 34th place overall. At the 24-hour running European championships 2001 in Apeldoorn ( NLD ) he reached 172.535 km and a total of 65th place. Eugen Leipner ran again on the podium at the German championships in the 24-hour race 2003 in Scharnebeck, when 218.357 km were enough for third place. His last DM participation was at the 100 km DM 2006 in Rodenbach (8:44:58 h, 59th place).

Eugen Leipner has been the chief organizer of the Marburg Night Marathon since the first edition and is a restaurateur in Marburg .
