Michael Mayer (politician)

Michael Mayer (born September 21, 1836 in Eberspoint ; † February 23, 1911 in Landshut ) was a master carpenter, sculptor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Mayer attended elementary school in Landshut, learned carpentry and then trained as a sculptor. In 1861 he founded a church art institute specializing in neo-Gothic altars in Landshut, which he directed with great success until 1898. Between 1869 and 1878 he was a municipal representative, from 1890 magistrate in Landshut.

From 1890 to 1903 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Niederbayern 1 ( Landshut , Dingolfing , Vilsbiburg ) and the German Center Party . Mayer was a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies from 1891 to 1904.
