Michael Merle

Michael Merle is a German local politician ( SPD ) and has been the mayor of Butzbach since 2007 .

In February 2007, Merle was elected the new mayor of Butzbach in a runoff election with 64.0 percent of the vote. Merle, who had been the honorary first city councilor until his election , had already been in charge of the official business for almost four months, as the previous mayor Oswin Veith ( CDU ) had been elected first district councilor of the Wetterau district in August 2006 and therefore resigned. On September 30, 2012, Merle was confirmed in office with 62.4 percent of the votes.

Merle was chairman of the SPD Butzbach until 2007.
