Michael Nothdurfter

Michael Nothdurfter (born April 10, 1961 in Bozen , Italy ; † December 5, 1990 in La Paz , Bolivia ) was a Marxist guerrilla from South Tyrol .

Nothdurfter first attended the Franciscan high school in Bolzano, then studied theology in London and in the early 1980s went to Latin America as a Jesuit novice to get involved with the poor. There he subsequently joined the Ejército de Liberación Nacional , with whom he, called Comandante Miguel , kidnapped the Bolivian Coca-Cola representative Jorge Lonsdale. On December 5, 1990, Nothdurfter and the hostage were shot by snipers .
