Michael Portmann

Michael Portmann (* 1975 in Escholzmatt ) is a Swiss historian .

life and work

1992–1997 Portmann attended the primary school teacher seminar in the Canton of Lucerne . Between 1997 and 1998 he worked as a primary school teacher at various schools in the Canton of Lucerne. 1998–2003 he studied East and Southeast European History and Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna (Mag. Phil.). With a scholarship from the Zeit-Stiftung Hamburg , he completed his doctoral studies at the University of Vienna (Dr. phil.) From 2003-2005. Portmann has been a research assistant at the Historical Commission of the Austrian Academy of Sciences since 2006 , and has been a lecturer at the University of Bern since 2008 . In the summer semester 2008 and in the summer semester 2009 he was a lecturer at the University of Vienna. Since September 2009 he has been a member of the Commission for the History and Culture of Germans in Southeastern Europe, eV in Tübingen .

Portmann's areas of work are Yugoslavia in the 20th century, the nationality policy of Yugoslavia (1944–1991), the history of Vojvodina and state building in Southeastern Europe in the 19th century.
