Michael Reimer (born May 30, 1961 in Löbau ) was a soccer player in the GDR . For BSG Chemie Leipzig he played in the GDR Oberliga , the highest East German division.

Reimer joined the children's team of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Leipzig in 1969 at the age of eight . There he went through all the youth teams up to the juniors, for whom he played until 1979. For the 1979/80 season he was accepted into the junior league team , with which he played all 26 point games in which he scored three goals. He also completed an electrician apprenticeship. Since the first team of Chemie Leipzig in 1980 had to relegate from the GDR league, the junior team was downgraded to the third-class Leipzig district league from 1980/81 as Chemie II, whose lineup initially included Reimer .

For the 1981/82 season, the 1.72 m tall Reimer was included in the squad of the first team, which continued to play in the second-rate GDR league . A year later, Reimer was one of the main forces in the chemistry team, which returned to the league that season. Reimer was the only player to play all 22 point and eight promotion round matches, and with his 13 goals he became Leipzig's top scorer. Also in the following two league seasons Reimer was part of the player base. While he was still used as a winger in 22 league games in 1983/84, coach Gerd Struppert moved him to the defense in the 1984/85 season after Reimer had previously only scored one league goal. This season Chemie Leipzig ended again as relegated, and in the next two years Reimer played with BSG Chemie again in the GDR league. In 1985/86 he was again top scorer of his team with 16 goals.

In May 1987 Reimer was called up for military service. He was assigned to the Army Sports Community Vorwärts Dessau , where he could continue to play football in the GDR league. Also with the forward team he was the most accurate shooter in the 1988/89 season with 13 goals. After his release, Reimer joined Chemie Leipzig again and played another 33 GDR league games in 1989/90, in which he was one of the most accurate players as a midfielder with seven goals. In the summer of 1990 Reimer ended his career as a competitive athlete. As a recreational footballer, he then played for the Saxon state division club SV Grimma in the 4th division and later in Hameln, Lower Saxony .
