Michael Renz (Manager)

Michael Renz (born March 5, 1953 in Pforzheim ) is a German manager and actuary . He held a leading position for db-Leben , Deutsche Herold and the Zurich Group Germany . He was also chairman of the German Association of Actuaries and has been chairman of the European Association of Actuaries since autumn 2014 .

Career

Renz studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe until 1979 . He then began his career in the insurance sector when he began his career at Allianz Lebensversicherung , where he worked as a speaker in the fields of mathematics, accounting and investments. In parallel to his activities there , he did his doctorate in Karlsruhe until 1986.

In the summer of 1986, Renz switched to Condor Lebensversicherung , where he received power of attorney in September 1987 . A few months later, however, he moved to the company for financial marketing as managing director , where he inherited Peter Gessner as the board member responsible for insurance . There he was entrusted with the preparations for the establishment of Deutsche Bank 's life insurance company , known primarily as db-Leben . On September 1, 1989, the newly founded insurance company started business operations, Renz was one of the four board members alongside CEO Johann Wieland , Sven-Michael Slottko and Martin Wagener , his departments were operational organization, data processing, mathematics, accounting and that Controlling. Renz has been a member of the board of the German Actuarial Association since 2003, from 2007 to 2009 he was deputy and from 2009 to 2011 chairman of the association. In October 2014 he was appointed President of the European Association of Actuaries.
