Michael Schütz (born December 12, 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German professional footballer from Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96 and an amateur coach.

career

Michael Schütz began playing soccer at Düsseldorf SC 99 and moved to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1986 . After a year with the amateur team of Fortuna, he made his debut in the 1987/88 season for the club in the 2nd Bundesliga . At the end of the season he had played 37 games under coach Aleksandar Ristić and scored nine goals as a midfielder. In the following season 1988/89 he rose with Fortuna in the Bundesliga and finished ninth with the club. Schütz played a total of 205 games (13 goals) for Fortuna, including 112 games in the Bundesliga (9 goals).

In the 1993/94 season he moved to Hannover 96 . Here he ended his career as a professional footballer after 14 games (one goal) due to a serious injury.

After the playing career

Michael Schütz settled down in Wedemark north of Hanover after his career . He took over TV Mandelsloh in the district league Hannover-Land and led the club as a player-coach at the district level - the club's greatest success to date. From 2005 to 2013 he was player -coach at the Lower Saxony district class club SV Resse and then took over the senior youth team as a coach.
