Michael Silkeit (born November 23, 1959 in Wismar ) is a German trade unionist and politician ( CDU ). From 2011 to 2016 he was a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament .

Life

Michael Silkeit studied at the NVA officers' college in Löbau and business administration at the engineering college in Wismar . He has worked as a police officer since 1983.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he became involved in building democratic staff representatives in the state police. Since 1990 he has been an exempt member of the Police Main Staff Council in the Interior Ministry. At the same time he began to get involved in building up the police union (GdP). Since 1990 he has been deputy state chairman and since 1992 state chairman of the GdP. Since 1992 he has also been a member of the GdP's national board.

Michael Silkeit is married and has two children.

Michael Silkeit was unable to win the Rostock III state constituency directly in the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011 , but entered parliament via the state list.

He has been an honorary judge at the Greifswald Higher Administrative Court since 1993 .
