Michael Stapfer

Michael Stapfer (born October 18, 1871 in Kirchham , † September 27, 1950 in Schlupfing near Pocking ) was a German politician (center).

After attending elementary school in Kirchham and Pocking , Stapfer worked in agriculture . After serving in the military from 1893 to 1894, Stapfer took part in the First World War from 1914 to 1916 , in which he was awarded the 3rd Class Cross of Merit with Swords.

From January 1919 to June 1920, Stapfer sat as a member of the Catholic Center Party for constituency 25 (administrative districts of Lower Bavaria and Upper Palatinate) in the Weimar National Assembly . Stapfer later left the Center Party to join the Bavarian People's Party.

From 1924 to 1933 Stapfer was a member of the Bavarian state parliament .

From June 27 to June 28, 1933, Stapfer was taken into " protective custody " by the National Socialists as part of their action against the BVP .

Stapfer was also a member of the board of the Pocking breeding animal cooperative and the board of the agricultural association and the local government of Indling.

Today the Michael-Stapfer-Strasse in Pocking, named after Stapfer, reminds of his life and political activities.
