Michael Tellinger (* in the 20th century ) is a South African writer, musician and politician .

Life

Michael Tellinger earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg in 1983 . During his studies he spent most of his time in the entertainment sector.

He began his stage career in 1980 in the musical Christian by Nick Taylor at His Majesty's Theater. In the role of Joseph he played at the opening of the State Theater in Pretoria and two more years on the tour of the musical. During this time he started his solo career and released his first single Hazel in 1981, which was nominated for the SARIE Award in the category "Best Male Singer".

Shortly thereafter, he teamed up with Russell Stirling to form the rock duo "Stirling & Tellinger", which existed until 1995. In the following four years hits like Call Me and What's a Nice Girl Like You, Doing In a Place Like This were created. The Call Me video was voted one of the two most successful MIDEM videos in 1983 in Cannes . In 1985 a studio album was recorded in Nashville with Terry Dempsey as producer. During his year-long stay in Los Angeles, various large agencies became aware of him, but a collaboration with the duo was rejected because of the cultural boycott against the apartheid regime .

He worked for Cannon Films as a sound designer and sound engineer until he returned to South Africa in mid-1986. Tellinger continued his musical career with further appearances and studio recordings. His 1986 song We Come from Johannesburg was a nine-minute epic work against apartheid. It was also the first published rap album by a South African artist. The song was immediately banned because of its negative attitude towards the government at the time. Tellinger was then harassed by the government: telephone surveillance, South African police control, and other intimidating tactics, and he received several death threats. While he was in exile, the song was originally written by Michael Tellinger and presenter Neil Johnson of Radio 702 from Los Angeles . This was a response to the song Sun City by Steven Van Zandt . Tellinger and Johnson wrote the epic rap to capture a South African perspective of their country's situation.

Since 1981 Michael Tellinger has written, produced and published 13 studio albums. He performed as a musician in South Africa as well as abroad and went on numerous tours. He also wrote songs for various occasions and for South African artists.

As one of the main actors he played in the first South African soap opera called Orpen House . He was the main actor and composer of the theme song in the six-episode series The Star Shooters from 1997.

In 1988 he worked in the advertising industry as a composer. There he received a Clio Award for a radio advertising campaign by DEFY.

Michael has hosted a number of SABC programs like Graffiti and Fast Forward . His experience with SABC led him to television production through which he developed formats such as Late Nite Live and Weekend Bonus .

In 1995 he moved to Cape Town , where he started a broadcast specialist agency called Airheads. In 1997 he initiated Nebula BOS Records to promote national and international releases by independent South African artists and music labels . Within the first year, the number of artists grew to 400 and a cooperation with Warner Bros. was established via the website. Ten albums were released in Germany and seven in the USA.

In 2000 he produced and hosted a weekly radio show on Cape Talk , which focused on South African innovations, technologies and success stories.

In January 2001 he sold an educational program for children to the SABC. 40 episodes would be produced for which he developed animal characters and wrote the music. In 2002, he worked for a children's show to start an education company called The Brain Food Company, whose primary concern is the development of wide-ranging textbooks, games and audio-video products.

He also wrote and produced Side By Side With Angels with Verny Scholtz to solicit help for the tsunami disaster through a collaboration between African musicians. South African artists like Malaika, Dr. Victor, Watershed and Dawnay participated in the song and video.

Works as a writer

Tellinger wrote more than a dozen screenplays. He published his first book Slave Species of God in 2005. (German: The slave race of the gods - The secret story of the Anunnaki and their mission on earth ), ISBN 3864452082 (German first edition: March 2015). His work is the result of a 25-year study of the publications of Zecharia Sitchin , who draws on his translations of historical Sumerian tablets and developed theories about the early formation of mankind by the Anunnaki , a supposedly extraterrestrial and humanoid species. Tellinger also regularly publishes articles on these topics on its website.

Career in politics

In 2012 Tellinger founded the Ubuntu Party in South Africa, which is based on the Ubuntu principle and its principles of distribution. She ran in the parliamentary elections in South Africa in 2014 and received 0.04% of the vote.

Tellinger criticizes the banking system. He initially refused to repay a loan that he had taken out from Absa Bank for the purchase of a piece of land, and he himself filed a lawsuit against the bank for the disbursement of 900,000 rand . The lawsuit was dismissed in 2012 by the competent judge as "abuse of the court". As a result, Tellinger founded The New Economic Rights Alliance with the aim of bringing about a decision by the Constitutional Court of South Africa . In November 2012, his submission to the CCSA was rejected because the court found that there was no prospect of success.
