Michael Voges (politician)

Michael Voges (born December 17, 1952 in Bremen ) is a German political official ( SPD ). From 2006 to 2016 he was a State Councilor in various authorities in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg .

Life and work

Interrupted from military service in 1972/1973, Voges studied German, history and sociology in Kiel. During his studies he was supported by the German National Academic Foundation. In 1978 he passed the academic examination for high schools. From 1979 to 1982 he received a doctoral scholarship from the Studienstiftung, after which he worked as a research assistant until 1987 and later as a university assistant. His doctorate in philosophy took place in 1985. From 1987 to 1991 he was a university assistant in Tübingen, then he joined the regional administration of Hamburg.

In 1992 Voges became head of department in the representation of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg at the federal government in Bonn. In 1994 he took over the management of the senator's office in the authority for schools, youth and vocational training, from 1996 he headed the presidential department of the house. In 1998 he moved to the Senate Chancellery, where he was head of the presidential office for four years. After six months as commercial manager of the GKSS research center , Voges returned to the Senate Chancellery in 2003 as head of the planning team.

Michael Voges is married and has two children.

Voges was State Councilor for Education and Sport from 2006 to 2008, State Councilor for Social Affairs, Family, Health and Consumer Protection from 2008 to 2010, State Councilor for Finance Authority from 2010 to 2011, and State Councilor from 2011 until his retirement on December 31, 2016 the authority for schools and vocational training .
