Michael Vornberger

Michael Vornberger (born July 1, 1807 in Würzburg , † May 19, 1894 in Würzburg) was a German banker .

Life

Vornberger was a successful banker in Würzburg.

He was married to Elisabeth Benkert (* May 17, 1804; † March 14, 1868 in Würzburg) and had a daughter, Sabina (* October 24, 1839; † September 6, 1895 in Würzburg), married to the royal district doctor in 1862 Würzburg, Oskar Kollmann (born January 23, 1839 in Buitenzorg, Java; † May 6, 1908 in Würzburg)

In 1851, the Kingdom of Bavaria sold Saaleck Castle near Hammelburg with the associated estate for 36,000 guilders . In 1866 there was a serious fire in which the farm building and the prince's building burned down. Vornberger had the building rebuilt. In 1868 Vornberger bought the vineyards at the castle for 17,000 guilders . His heirs sold the castle and estate in 1894 immediately after his death. After various owners, it was finally bought by the city of Hammelburg in 1964.

In 1885 - Vornberger was already living in Würzburg as a pensioner at that time - he was made an honorary citizen by the city of Bad Kissingen .
