Michael Wnuk

Michael Wnuk (born November 29, 1963 in Moers ) is a German professional sailor ( RYA Yachtmaster ), photographer , blogger and author . The graphic artist and later advertising entrepreneur published two books and is known for a sailing blog and photographs about sailing.

Life

Wnuk gained his first sailing experience with friends in Helsinki . The weekend turn ended with a slide show of his Atlantic crossing . In 1996 Wnuk completed the German sailing license together with his partner Nathalie Müller. The previously independent commercial artist sold his company due to psychosomatic complaints. In 1999 Wnuk and Müller acquired the ship SY Iron Lady in Kiel .

In August 2000, Wnuk started the first world tour with friends. Müller moved to the ship in 2001. From the Canary Islands , the trip went to the Caribbean and the Galapagos Islands , New Zealand , Indonesia and Malaysia , where their first daughter was born in 2005. Madagascar and South Africa were the other destinations until their second daughter was born in 2007. In May 2007 the family settled in Düsseldorf .

In September 2011 the east-west circumnavigation of Cape Horn from Buenos Aires towards Puerto Montt began. Her previous ship, the SY Iron Lady, was sold in Chile in 2013 and replaced by the SY Marlin. In 2014 the trip ended in Flensburg after crossing the Caribbean .

Since then, Müller has been working there as a doctor , and Wnuk offers charter trips with his ship.

Activity as an author

Wnuk had already published numerous reports on his travel blog during his trip. These were published in 2008 as a collection of works in the book “ Sea as a dream: Under sails into happiness.” In 2015, the second book with the title “Under sails at home: A family wants sea. "

Wnuk also works as an author for online media and specialist journals.
