Michael von Hauff

Michael von Hauff (* 1947 ) is a German economist and held the chair for economics, in particular economic policy and international economic relations, at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern .

life and work

1968-1973 Michael von Hauff studied economics at the Universities of Augusta / Georgia (USA), Stuttgart and Konstanz . From 1974 to 1991 he worked as a research assistant at the Business Administration Institute of the University of Stuttgart . At the city's Department of Economic Theory doctorate from Hauff in 1977 entitled The economic power of the unions to Dr. rer. pole. In 1987 the habilitation followed with the thesis New Self-Help Movement and State Social Policy . From 1991 to March 2016, von Hauff held the chair for economics, in particular economic policy and international economic relations, at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern . Michael von Hauff has been a senior research professor since March 2016. In addition, he is a member of the scientific steering committee of the Institute for Technology and Work , an industrial and economic institute affiliated with the Technical University of Kaiserslautern.

His research areas include environmental and development economics . He understands the concept of a sustainable market economy developed by him as an extension of the conception of the social market economy with equal consideration of the three dimensions of sustainable development: ecology, economy and social affairs.

In Germany he took several teaching positions a. a. true at the universities of Konstanz and Heidelberg. In 1995 he was visiting professor at the University of Delhi - India. In 2004 he gave guest lectures at the Technical University of Singapore. Since 2006 he has been giving guest lectures as part of a university cooperation between the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the Yangon Institute of Economics - Myanmar and the University of Yangon. He is a member of a number of national and international organizations and of the editorial offices of economic journals. He is also a member of the European Academy for Science and the Arts, as well as the Association for Social Policy. Since 2010 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for Political Education at the Ingelheim Training Center .

The Federal German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management awarded him the BAUM Environment Prize in 2009 "for many years of outstanding scientific achievements in favor of sustainable development."

In 2015 he was one of the 100 most important economists in German-speaking countries in the FAZ ranking.
