History and equipment

The place was settled around 1108 on the instructions of the Archbishop of Magdeburg , Adalgod von Osterburg . The settlers probably built a chapel on the mountain near the castle around 1140 . Above the door was a tympanum with the crucified , the so-called "Herrgottsstein von Crossen". It is installed in the stairwell of the local church.

Settlers probably brought a Madonna with them as their patron saint . This early Gothic stone relief was placed in another chapel in 1280. Michaelis Church, built in 1320, still stands at this point of this chapel.

At the beginning of the 17th century the nave was enlarged to the west. The west tower , which is a roof turret , was also built.

In 1630 the stairwells and the galleries were built. Further construction work followed with the gentlemen of the castle. The manorial box with a memorial plaque is a testimony to the patronage . In 1748 the attached pulpit altar was added.

In 1982 the Poppe organ was restored.

The last renovations took place from 1988 to 1992. A Romanesque vault was found during the work . It is said to have been the sacristy . 2003–2004 the facade was renovated; In 1993 the house received a radio clock .
