The village church Dothen is in the district of Dothen of the city of Schkölen in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish Königshofen in the church district Eisenberg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The village church is in the center of the Rundlingsdorf and can be seen from afar.

history

The unproven origins of the church can only be read from the Romanesque part of the church at the apse and at the south entrance. In the 14./15. In the 19th century a fire ravaged the church.

During the reconstruction, the nave was lengthened and raised. The pointed arch windows go back to the years 1698/99. In 1812 the church tower with a curved dome was built.

In the 17th century, three-sided galleries were installed in the room . The beams and boards in the ceiling also date from this period.

In 1970 there was a risk of collapse. The top of the tower tilted alarmingly. From 1988 to 1989 the tower and roof were successfully renovated. In addition, the interior was renovated and the second gallery was dismantled.

Bell jar

The bell from 1519 was cast in 1900 and melted down during the First World War . Since 1961 there has been a cast steel bell in addition to the bronze bell from 1859.

Furnishing

The life-size crucifixion group with a tree cross in the choir dates from the 17th century, the standing baptismal angel from the 18th century. It was replaced as a font in 1876 .

The organ was built in 1800 by Matthias Vogler from Naumburg .
