Mikhail Khmelnitsky

Mikhail Khmelnitski ( Russian Михаил Хмельницкий ; * July 24, 1969 ) is a former Belarusian walker .

At the World Junior Athletics Championships in 1988 in Sudbury, he won - starting for the Soviet Union - the bronze medal in the 10,000 m track walking. In 1994 he became the Belarusian champion in 20 km walking . In the same year he started at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest , but did not reach the goal.

Over the 20-kilometer distance, Khmelnitsky finished ninth at the 1995 World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg and twelfth place at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. He achieved the greatest success of his career at the 1997 World Athletics Championships in Athens. There he won the bronze medal over 20 km behind Daniel García and Michail Schchennikow .

Michail Khmelnizki was also sixth at the 1999 Mézidon-Canon World Cup and finished 34th at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He is 1.71 m tall and had a competition weight of 62 kg.
