history

The diocese of Barahona was founded on April 24, 1976 by Pope Paul VI. built with the Papal Bull Ad Animarum from cessions of territory of the diocese of San Juan de la Maguana and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo as a suffragan .
