The Diocese of San Pedro de Macoris ( lat. : Dioecesis Sancti Petri de Macoris , span. : Diócesis de San Pedro de Macorís ) is in the Dominican Republic situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in San Pedro de Macoris .
history
The diocese was established on February 1, 1997 by Pope John Paul II with the Papal Bull Veritatem lucem from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Santiago de los Caballeros and the Diocese of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia en Higüey and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo as a suffragan .
