Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas (* 1967 in Ramonal Arriba ) is a Dominican clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Barahona .

Life

Andrés Napoleón Romero Cárdenas entered the seminary in 1983 and studied at the Pontifical Catholic University "Mater et Magistra" in Santiago de los Caballeros . He was ordained a priest for the diocese of San Francisco de Macorís on July 8, 1995 .

From 1995 to 1998 he worked as a chaplain in parish pastoral care. At the same time he was an educator at the boys' seminary and as director of the diocesan work for priestly vocations involved in vocational pastoral care. From 1998 to 2001 he studied in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University and obtained the Licentiate in Biblical Theology . After his return home, he was professor and dean at the philosophical-theological faculty and in priestly training at the Pontifical Seminary of St. Thomas Aquinas . From 2008 he was pastor of three parishes and before his appointment as bishop cathedral pastor at the Cathedral of Santa Ana in San Francisco de Macorís.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Barahona on February 23, 2015. He received his episcopal ordination on April 25 of the same year.
