Michał Wierba
Michał Wierba (born February 13, 1986 in Cracow ) is a Polish jazz musician ( piano , composition ) of modern jazz .
Live and act
Wierba did not begin to play the piano until he was 17; two years later he attended the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice. In 2000 he had the opportunity to play with Wayne Shorter before he appeared at the Lotos Jazz Festival ( Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa ) in Bielsko-Biała. Soon afterwards he performed successfully with his own band in Poland and received numerous prizes and awards. Stylistically influenced by hardbop , he combines jazz with the traditions of Polish classical music, which results in the melancholy atmosphere of his melodies.
Wierba directed the sextet The Michał Wierba Doppelganger and plays in the Wierba & Schmidt Quintet ; he also worked with the vocalist Wojciech Mryczek in a duo, as well as with Piotr Baron. So far (2019) Wierba has released five albums under his own name; In 2008 the album Black Jack was created , with Klaudiusz Klosek (trumpet), Marcin Kaletka (tenor saxophone), Andrzej Swies (bass) and Sebastian Kuchczynski (drums).
