Michel-Martin Drolling (born March 7, 1786 in Paris ; † January 9, 1851 there ) was a French history painter .

Life

Michel-Martin Drolling, who won the Prix ​​de Rome in 1810 , specialized in works of history painting, genre painting and portraits. On August 31, 1833 he was appointed a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts and in 1837 appointed as successor to François Gérard professor at the École des beaux-arts . The places in his training studio were very popular, especially since it was preparing for the competition for the Prix de Rome. Paul Delaroche sent several of his students to Drolling after the closure of his own studio.
