Stopline Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stopline is an Austrian reporting office against child pornography , National Socialism and other extremism on the Internet. It enables the simple, anonymous and unbureaucratic reporting of websites with child pornography, National Socialist or other extremist content.

history

The formal establishment of the "ISPA hotline", which was still called at that time, took place in November 1998 in agreement with the Federal Ministry of the Interior by the Association of Internet Service Providers Austria (ISPA) . Today the Stopline is an authorized and recognized reporting point by the authorities. It works closely with the authorities and Internet service providers. In 2012 , Stopline received around 2,600 reports. 15% of the content was classified as illegal. There were only two cases from Austria, the rest were abroad. Around 95% of the reported content was deleted. In 2013 the number of reports rose to 6,070, and actual illegal material rose to 26%. On May 15, 2014, Stopline invited to the 15th anniversary event. In 2014 the number of reports rose again to 8,792. In 2014 , so-called sexting became relevant for reports.

organization

Stopline is financed by the European Commission's "Safer Internet Program" and the Association of Internet Service Providers Austria (ISPA) . It is part of the “Safer Internet Austria” program and a member of INHOPE.

Stopline is incorporated into the Association of Internet Service Providers Austria (ISPA) as a voluntary self-regulation of the Austrian Internet Service Providers . The advisory and superordinate body of the Stopline is the 12-member Stopline Advisory Board.

Together with SaferInternet Austria (protection and education for Internet users) and 147 - Advice on Wire (telephone assistance for children, young people and their reference persons), the reporting office forms the “Safer Internet Center Austria”.

tasks

After receiving a report, the employees check whether the material is actually illegal within the meaning of Austrian law. In this case, the responsible Austrian executive, the possibly affected Austrian provider and the foreign partner hotline within the framework of INHOPE, a network of hotlines against illegal content on the Internet, will be informed immediately in order to remove this content as quickly as possible. The increased cooperation with the authorities also includes regular meetings, among other things to expand the technical knowledge of the people involved.
