Michelangelo Cardinal Luchi OSB

Michelangelo Luchi OSB Cas (born August 20, 1744 in Brescia , † September 29, 1802 in Subiaco ) was an Italian clergyman and cardinal of the Roman Church . He was in the service of the Roman Curia . His last name is also known as Lucchi .

Life

Luchi was a Benedictine monk of the Monte Cassino Archabbey and later in 1801 Commendatar Abbot of the Subiaco Abbey. He was also a doctor of Greek and Hebrew. Pope Pius VII elevated him to cardinal in pectore on February 23, 1801 , which was published on September 28 of the same year. He became a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria della Vittoria . From 1801 to 1802 Luchi was prefect of the Roman Curia and in August 1802 prefect of the index congregation .

He is buried in the church of the Santa Scholastica Monastery in Subiaco.
