Michele Fabris , best known for his nickname derived from his homeland, Michele Ongaro also written Ongharo or Ungaro (* 1644 in Bratislava ; † July 8, 1684 in Venice ) was a Hungarian sculptor.
biography
He was born in Bratislava , Royal Hungary . As a reference to his homeland, he was nicknamed Ongaro (Hungarian) . He moved to Venice around 1662 . There he worked with the German sculptor Melchior Barthel on the grave of Doge Pesaro in the Frari . He then worked in the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute with Baldassare Longhena . Another sculpture is in the Cappella Vendramin in San Pietro di Castello . Michele Fabris died in Venice.
