Michele Skatar ( Croatian Michele Škatar ; born December 30, 1985 in Koper , SR Slovenia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian-Italian handball player . His body length is 1.92 m.

Career

Skatar plays for the French club Strasbourg and for the Italian national team . It is mostly used in the right back area.

Michele Skatar came to RK Umag in 1999, where he later made his debut in the Croatian first division and in 2003 was in the final of the Croatian Cup. In 2004 he moved to Pallamano Triest. With the men from Friuli he was runner-up in 2005 and was in the final of the Italian Cup. In the 2005/06 season, Skatar was elected top scorer in the Italian league and Italy's Player of the Year with 233 goals; then foreign clubs became aware of him. Finally, TSG Friesenheim signed him . Skatar only stayed there for a year; In 2007 he was signed by the first division club TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke. With the East Westphalia, however, he rose again in 2008 in the second division. With Nettelstedt he managed to get back up immediately, but left the club in summer 2009. In the 2009/10 season he played for the French club Mulhouse Handball Sud Alsace. He was chosen to be the best half right of the season. From summer 2010 Skatar is under contract with HBC Nantes. In the 2012/13 season, Skatar reached two finals in the EHF European Cup and the Coupe de la Ligue in France with HBC Nantes . During the 2013/14 season he was signed by the Italian club Handball Carpi until the end of the season. In summer 2014 he joined Cesson-Rennes Métropole HB . Two years later he moved to Montélimar Cruas handball. He has been playing for Soultz Bollwiller Handball since summer 2020.

Although he was born in what is now Slovenia , Michele Skatar plays for the Italian national team, for which he has scored 574 goals in 135 international matches. With his country he has never been able to qualify for a major international tournament.
