The Micheli tulip ( Tulipa micheliana ) is a species of tulip ( Tulipa ) in the lily family (Liliaceae).

features

The Micheli tulip is a perennial bulbous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 40 (60) centimeters. The onion skins are densely hairy inside and especially at the base and at the tip. The bracts are (2.5) 5 to 10 (15) centimeters long and glossy red currant on the top. Your basal spot is purple-black, narrow and a third to a half as long as the bracts.

The flowering time is in April, sometimes it lasts until May.

Occurrence

The Micheli tulip occurs in northwest Pamir , Kopet-Dagh and northern Iran in juniper thorn bushes and wormwood annuelle semi-deserts on stony loamy slopes, limestone and sand at altitudes of (350) 900 to 2200 meters.

use

The Micheli tulip is rarely used as an ornamental plant for borders and rock gardens. The species has been in culture since around 1900.
