Michelle Buteau (* 1977 in New Jersey ) is an American stand-up - comedian and actress .

Life

Buteau was born in New Jersey to a Haitian father and a Jamaican mother. Originally, she wanted to be a reporter, got her entry into the television industry as an editor for NBC and Fox. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 , she quit this job and began a career as a stand-up comedian.

After various appearances in comedy clubs and at festivals, her first television appearances followed in The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson , Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing .

First appearances in television series such as Key & Peele , China, IL , Enlisted and Matrjoschka followed later .

She is married to the Dutch photographer Gijs van der Most.
