Mick Talbot

Mick Talbot (born September 11, 1958 in London ) is a British musician and keyboardist, who is best known for his collaboration with the singer and guitarist Paul Weller .

In the mid-1970s, he and his brother Danny founded the mod revival band The Merton Parkas in London , which, together with The Jam, pioneered a second big wave of mod in England. After this group separated in 1980, he first joined Dexys Midnight Runners and the new wave or soul group The Bureau .

From 1983 he formed The Style Council together with Paul Weller , which until the beginning of the 1990s had a number of top 10 hits in Great Britain and some successes in Germany. In 1990 the existing record deal was dissolved by the label, and Talbot continued to play some of Paul Weller's solo recordings.

With the drummer Steve White , who also came from Style Council, he released a number of projects under the name "Talbot / White" before joining the jazz / funk band The. In 2003 with the bassist Damon Minchella (formerly Ocean Color Scene ) Players founded.

Talbot had already proven his love for jazz and funk in 1991 when he played keyboard on the British / American acid jazz formation Young Disciples' album "Road to Freedom" , as well as occasionally working for Galliano . In 2009 Talbot toured England with Candi Staton .

Since 2011 he has been a permanent member of the band Dexys, which emerged from the former Dexys Midnight Runners .
