Miconia schlimii is a plant from the family of melastomataceae (Melastomataceae). The tree is native to central and northern South America.
description
Miconia schlimii is a shrub or small tree that reaches a height of up to 8 meters. Young twigs, petioles, the veins of the underside of the leaves and the flower cups are moderately covered with red-brown, star-shaped, felty hair. The leaves, which are ciliate on the slightly to clearly corrugated edge, are lanceolate to elliptical-ovate, glabrous on the top and finely hairy on the underside, the veins fan out into three to five, rarely up to seven side ribs above the base of the leaves .
The little flowered inflorescences are 3 to 8 inches long. The five-fold, short-stalked flowers have white petals . The ovary is five-fold, the fruits have a diameter of 8 to 10 millimeters.

Miconia schlimii is native to Central and Northern South America from Guatemala and Belize to Northern Colombia and Venezuela. It is mostly found on light secondary locations.
Systematics and botanical history
Miconia schlimii was first described in 1872 by the Colombian botanist José Jerónimo Triana . In 1891 it was placed in the genus Acinodendron by Carl Ernst Otto Kuntze . In 1906 John Donnell Smith described a species of Conostegia dolichostylis from Costa Rica. Both names are now treated as synonyms of Miconia schlimii .
