The Microcorycia are a genus of unicellular , wired amoeba with 11 species. They belong to the Arcellina group .

features

Representatives of the Microcorycia are usually smaller than 100 micrometers . The bowl-shaped, brown housing consists of a flexible membrane in which small, mineral particles or debris are embedded. The upper end of the housing facing away from the mouth is dome-shaped, occasionally grooved concentrically or provided with small, horn-like projections. In the edge area, the housing form membranous projections.

The pseudopodia are lobopodia that are stretched out through openings in the housing. The ectoplasm is pale, the endoplasm granular, yellowish to reddish, some species have glycogen spheres 2 to 5 micrometers in size . The cell nucleus belongs to the ovular type, so it contains many nuclear bodies . The Encystierung happens outside the housing.

ecology

Microcorycia are herbivores, they live in dry mosses.

Systematics

The genus was first described by Cockerell in 1911 , the type species is the Microcorycia flava, first described by Richard Greeff in 1866 as Amphizonella flava . In 1934 the genus de Saedelaaer was named after the family Microcoryciidae.

The genus includes eleven species, including:
