The Arcellinida are a group of shell-bearing amoeba of the Tubulinea .

Arcellinida are amoeboid single-cell organisms that are always provided with a shell (testa). The shells lie outside the cell membrane and consist of organic or mineral materials that are either secreted or bind external particles. The shell has a single main opening.

Systematics

The first description of the Arcellinida was written by William Saville Kent in 1880 . Ralf Meisterfeld classified it as an order in 2002 and divided it into three sub-orders with sixteen families, Adl et al. indicate, however, a much more compact system in 2012:
