The Zivkovicia are a genus of unicellular , wired amoeba and belong to the family of Difflugiidae . The three types are found in the sediments of freshwater.
features
The housing of the representatives of the Zivkovicia consists of an organic putty in which mineral particles are incorporated. It is pear-shaped, with a clear constriction, which can, however, occasionally be covered by larger mineral particles. The cross section of the housing is round or slightly flattened. The round mouth opening is at the end, inside the housing is divided into two parts, but the separating section is made permeable by two circular openings.
Systematics
The genus was first validly described in 1987 by Colin G. Ogden after his first description from 1983 turned out to be formally invalid. The type species is Zivkovicia compressa . The genus includes three types:
