The Sexangularia are a genus of unicellular , wired amoeba and belong to the family of Difflugiidae . The genus contains three species.
features
The representatives of the Sexangularia are relatively small with a diameter of 10 to 70 micrometers. The housing consists of an organic substance, only a few mineral particles are incorporated. The cross-section of the housing is polygonal, usually hexagonal. The cell nucleus is of the vesicular type, i.e. it contains only one nucleus .
Occurrence
Sexangularia are found on freshwater plants and in peat moss .
Systematics
The genus was first described by Sergei Averintzew in 1906 , the type species is Sexangularia minutissima . Sexangularia includes three types, including:
