Midas Touch was a Swedish progressive and thrash metal band from Uppsala that was founded in 1985 and split up around 1989.

history

The band was founded in the summer of 1985 by bassist Patrik Sporrong, guitarist Thomas Forslund and drummer Bosse Lundstrom. Singer Patrik Wirén joined the cast for the Demo Ground Zero in 1987. After the demo was released, the band signed a contract with Noise Records in the fall of 1988 and went to the Skytrak Studio with producer Roy Rowland over the Christmas period . Before the recordings, Forslund had left the band and was replaced by Rickard Sporrong. The first and only album by the band Presage of Disaster , which was released in March 1989, emerged from the recordings . Then the band broke up. Wirén later formed the band Misery Loves Co.

style

The band is described by Jon "Metalion" Kristiansen as a technically more demanding version of Artch ("Sound a bit like ARTCH total techno Thrash or so"). Frank Stöver, the later editor of Voices from the Darkside , compared Pressage of Disaster im Metal Hammer / Crash with Metallicas ... And Justice for All . The band played technically demanding, progressive Thrash Metal, sometimes referred to as "Techno Thrash" or "Technical Thrash Metal".
