Annemarie Matzke

Annemarie (Mieke) Matzke (* 1972 in Braunschweig ) is a German performance artist and theater scholar .

life and work

She studied applied theater studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In her diploma thesis she dealt with Christoph Schlingensief and in her dissertation at the University of Hildesheim with role play and authenticity in contemporary theater . After working at the Institute for Theater Studies at the Free University of Berlin, she has been professor for experimental theater forms at the University of Hildesheim since autumn 2009. Together with Barbara Gronau she leads the working group "Theory and Practice of Theater" in the Society for Theater Studies.

As an actress she worked under the name Mieke Matzke in productions a. a. by Stefan Pucher , Ulrike Willberg and Hartmut El Kurdi . Mieke Matzke is a founding member of the performance group She She Pop . In 2011 she was invited to the Theatertreffen with the production of Testament.

Annemarie Matzke lives in Berlin.
