She She Pop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

She She Pop is a performance collective that emerged from the Applied Theater Studies course at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen in the 1990s . Members are Sebastian Bark, Johanna Freiburg, Fanni Halmburger, Lisa Lucassen, Mieke Matzke , Ilia Papatheodorou, Berit Stumpf and Elke Weber, as managing directors.

The majority of the group's members are women and work as a collective. The performers see themselves as authors, dramaturges and executors of their stage action. The inclusion of one's own autobiography is primarily a method, not the purpose of the work. This creates a form of theater that is committed to experimentation. The stage is always a place for the acute public. Here decisions are made, ways of talking and social systems are tried out, speech gestures and social rituals are rehearsed or discarded. The theater becomes a space for utopian communication. The audience, too, is often given a specific attribution and a special function: all of She She Pop's works are in their own way experiments or demonstrations that would be invalid without witness.

She She Pop addresses voyeurism , artistic prostitution and shows strategies of female self-presentation. The starting point for She She Pop's work is often the examination of popular genres such as the soap opera , the game show or a home story.

She She Pop has been based in Berlin since 1998. The HAU Hebbel am Ufer theater has been your continuous co-producer and cooperation partner in Berlin since 2003. Other regular cooperation partners at home and abroad are: Münchner Kammerspiele , Schauspiel Stuttgart , Kampnagel Hamburg, Forum Freies Theater in Düsseldorf, Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt / Main, Kaserne Basel , Theater de la Ville / Festival D´Automne de Paris, Festival Kyoto Experiment, Archa Theater Prague, Prague German Language Festival and the Konfrontationen Lublin festival.
