Mieke Telkamp (born June 14, 1934 in Oldenzaal ; † October 20, 2016 in Zeist ; actually Maria Berendina Johanna Telgenkamp ) was a Dutch singer. In the Netherlands she was best known for the song Waarheen, waarvoor , a Dutch translation of the song Amazing Grace .

Live and act

She had many hits in the 50s and 60s, especially in Germany with the song Prego, prego gondeliere, written by Joe Dixie . In 1957 she won first prize at the Venice Festival, the golden gondola. She performed at the Knokke Song Festival and sang at the Snip & Snap Revue in 1964. In 1971 she received her first gold record with Waarheen, waarvoor . In 2008 there was a double platinum award. At the beginning of the 2000s, a CD with their greatest German successes was released under the title Tulpen aus Amsterdam . She was the first Dutch singer who sang again in Germany after the Second World War, which earned her a lot of recognition there. Her first German title, Tomorrow I Come Again , was also a hit in the Netherlands.
