Mieskuoro Huutajat ( Die Rufer male choir ) is a Finnish male choir, with the peculiarity that the members do not sing in the classical sense , but predominantly shout, scream, roar or speak loudly. Founded in 1987 in the industrial city of Oulu in northern Finland by around 20 men who “obviously had nothing better to do”, the choir has since achieved international fame and performances all over the world. Characteristic of the Huutajat are ties made of black rubber with black suits and white shirts. The choir, which has now grown to 30 members, is led by the conductor and composer Petri Sirviö .

First, the Huutajat thematized patriotic Finnish songs, including the Finnish national anthem. On their second EP they interpreted four other national anthems (USSR, USA, Norway, Sweden) and the Deutschlandlied . Since then, other national anthems and homeland songs in various languages, the Blue Danube Waltz , European legal texts (e.g. the Treaty of Amsterdam ) and Japanese texts have been added to the repertoire.

The Huutajat performances are very rhythmic and thrive on accents and accents. Props such as megaphones, banners and stove pipes are used. In Germany, the formation was a guest at TFF.Rudolstadt and at the Kulturarena Jena festival in 2000, and in Austria they opened the Danube Festival in 2005 .

In 2003 the Finnish director Mika Ronkainen portrayed the Huutajat, their art and their humor in his film Screaming Men . The film was successful at several international film festivals.

Finland was the partner country at the citizens' festival of the German Federal President in 2019 . During this festival, the Huutajat performed two concerts.
