Miguel Ángel Montuori (born September 24, 1932 in Rosario , † June 4, 1998 in Florence ) was an Italo - Argentinian football player , he played in the position of a center forward.

Career

For the 1955/56 season, Miguel Ángel Montuori moved from CD Universidad Católica in Santiago de Chile to Serie A club AC Fiorentina , and in the same season, in addition to Montuori, another world-class player from South America joined Fiorentina, namely the Brazilian Julinho . During his time in Florence he won his first Scudetto for viola in the 1955/56 season . In the six seasons at Fiorentina, he scored a total of 72 goals. Thanks to his outstanding performance, he even made it to the Italian national team, for which he was specially naturalized.

He was still one of the best footballers when he had to abruptly abandon his career. In a friendly game against AC Perugia in 1961 , he was hit so badly by a powerful shot from an opponent that the retina came loose, which led to irreparable damage to the eye. Due to permanent vision problems, he had to end his career at the age of only 28. After the vision problems had eased somewhat over time, he tried his hand at coaching in Italy and Chile, relatively unsuccessfully. In 1988 he finally returned to Florence and found a modest job in the municipal library. However, he remained true to his passion for football and coached the youth team of a Florentine provincial team, where he a. a. discovered the young Flachi. In 1998 Montuori died of a serious illness in his adopted home of Florence.
