Miguel Acosta

Miguel Acosta (born April 20, 1978 in Miranda , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan boxer in the lightweight and left wingman . He was from July 25, 2009 to May 29, 2010 interim world champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and from May 29, 2010 to February 26, 2011 regular world champion of the WBA.

In his youth , Miguel Acosta was very successful in high jump and shot put at national youth championships . But later he decided against athletics for personal reasons and came to boxing through kickboxing . After he finished third in the junior boxing championships in 1994, he began to train under Gloria Adriana Yorgelis Cuesta Martinez Gustamante . She is considered to be largely responsible for Acosta's success.
