Miguel Cané

Miguel Cané (born January 27, 1851 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † September 5, 1905 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) was an Argentine writer , lawyer , journalist and politician . From November 7, 1892 to June 7, 1893 he was mayor of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires.

Life

Miguel Cané was born in Uruguay, where his family lived in exile. When he was two years old, de Rosas was overthrown and the family returned to Argentina. After graduating, Cané first worked as a journalist.

Later he held various political offices one after the other: he was foreign minister , interior minister, member of the provincial and federal level and mayor of Buenos Aires for seven months. From 1898 to 1904 he was Senator for the Province of Buenos Aires in the Argentine Senate . He also served as a diplomat in Colombia , Venezuela and France .

Juvenilia (1884) and En Viaje 1881-1882 (1884) belong to his literary work .
