Mihaela Stănculescu-Vosganian

Mihaela Stănculescu-Vosganian (born May 7, 1961 in Ploieşti ) is a Romanian composer .

Mihaela Stănculescu-Vosganian studied with Myriam Marbe at the Conservatory Ciprian Porumbescu in Bucharest . She then taught at the music schools in Giurgiu and Ploieşti and at the Dinu Lipatti Music School in Bucharest (1990–91), and since 1991 she has been professor of counterpoint at the National Music University in Bucharest .

Since 1990 she has been a member of the Romanian Composers Union, since 1995 of the International Alliance for Women in Music , since 1999 of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) and since 2001 she has been head of the Asociația Română a Femeilor în Artă (ARFA). She founded the group for contemporary music and dance INTER-ART , with whom she toured the USA (1998), Italy (2001) and Switzerland (2002).

For her works she received a. a. twice the prize of the composition competition Gheorghe Dima (1984 and 1985), the prize of the Romanian composers union (1986), the prize of the International Composers Workshop in Amsterdam (1994), the composition prize of the International New Music Consortium (INMC) (1998) and the prize Santa Cecilia Alba Adriatica (1999).

In 2000 she received her doctorate for a thesis on polyphonic structures in the works of Romanian composers in the second half of the 20th century.
