Mihai Albu

Mihai Albu (born June 21, 1938 in Ludos , Romania ; † July 2, 2017 in Prague , Czech Republic ) was a Romanian basketball player and coach.

Life

Albu completed more than 200 international matches for the Romanian national team and took part in six European championships between 1961 and 1971 . He played for Dinamo Bucharest until 1971 and then moved to MTV Wolfenbüttel in the basketball league.

In his first season he and his team won the DBB Cup in 1972. After his active career, he took over the Bundesliga team of MTV Wolfenbüttel in 1975 as coach. With the exception of the 1979/80 season, he held this position until 1982. As a coach, he again won the DBB Cup in 1982 against the high favorites Cologne. In 1984 he took over the coaching position again for a short time at MTV Wolfenbüttel, which was in dire straits, but could no longer prevent relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga.

After his coaching career, he worked as a physical education teacher in Wolfenbüttel.
