Mikael Gustafsson (born March 6, 1966 in Dragsfjärd on Kimitoön , Finland ) is a Swedish politician ( Vänsterpartiet ).

After completing a further education in social planning and spatial planning with a focus on technical planning and environmental protection at Stockholm University , Gustafsson worked as a nanny in the pre-school sector in Stockholm and was training clerk for the student association of the Stockholm University of Education. At the Vänsterpartiet he was first secretary for local and provincial politics, later financial policy expert, deputy head of the clerkship and transport policy expert for the parliamentary group . He also worked as a registrar for weddings and partnerships.

Gustafsson has been a member of the Vänsterpartiet program committee since 2004 and has been its chairman since 2008. From 1998 to 2008 he was a member of the Tyresö Municipal Council , and in 2010 he became an alternate member of the Nynäshamn Municipal Council . On September 22, 2011, he succeeded Eva-Britt Svensson in the European Parliament and only a short time later became chairman of the Equal Opportunities Committee. Gustafsson is also vice-chairman of his group in the Confederal Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left.

He is a member of the Conference of Committee Chairs and the Development Committee . Gustafsson is deputy in the delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council and in the delegation for relations with the Pan-African Parliament.
