Career

Wahlberg began his career in 1990 at Tierps Hockey , for which he played one season and then moved to Gävle Godtemplares IK in the summer of 1991 . He was active in Gävle for a total of two years and performed well during this time. The striker scored 46 points in 65 games. As a result, some Swedish talent scouts became aware of him. After all, it was those responsible for the then reigning champions Brynäs IF who transferred him to the Elitserien for the 1993/94 season . There he was under contract for three years.

After a brief interlude with Finnish first division club Helsingfors IFK in the 1996/97 season , he joined the Eisbären Berlin from the German Ice Hockey League in the summer of 1997. With the polar bears he reached third place in the European Hockey League in 1999 . At the end of 1999/00 he did not get a new contract in Berlin and returned to Sweden to MODO Hockey .

In 2002 the management of the Kassel Huskies convinced him of a renewed engagement in the DEL. Wahlberg completed 101 league games for the Huskies in the following two seasons and scored 63 times. Finally he went back to Sweden in 2004, where he ended his active ice hockey career in 2006.
