The Hammer Sport AG is a German sports goods manufacturer. The company, based in Neu-Ulm, is one of the largest manufacturers of fitness equipment for home fitness needs in Europe.

In addition to multi-gyms and cardio equipment , Hammer Sport also produces bicycles and boxing items. HAMMER SPORT has been the German general distributor of the world-famous MIKASA balls (supplier of Olympic Games, World and European Championships) since 1982.

history

The history of the family company Hammer begins in 1900 in southern Germany, when Heinrich Hammer and his wife took over the parental sawmill in Erbach . However, it is not just about making boards and stems. Heinrich Hammer uses wood to shape all kinds of everyday objects from it. Ten years later, in addition to carts and toboggan cuts, the company also produces tennis rackets and skis cut from solid wood and bent under steam. The sports equipment is continuously optimized by gluing, but the Second World War forced a temporary standstill.

From 1945 the manufacturer from southern Germany becomes the leading German ski manufacturer with the “erbacher” brand . In 1960, Heidi Biebl won the “erbacher Grand Prix” in Squaw Valley, USA, Olympic downhill gold. Numerous top racers such as Franz Vogler and Sepp Heckelmiller also used the skis from Erbach. In 1960 the company built the world's first synthetic ski and was the second company in the world to develop and manufacture metal skis alongside the Head brand. In 1978 the short ski was developed together with the ski instructor Martin Puchtler.

In addition to the skis, Heinrich Hammer's tennis rackets are very popular. From 1950, professional tennis world champions Hanne Nüsslein and Gottfried von Cramm achieved several victories with the models "Diplomat" and "Spezial-Modell". Less sporty people know the brand through folding and garden furniture. These are presented at the sports and garden furniture exhibition " SPOGA " in Cologne in 1976.

In 1982 the erbacher company was renamed Hammer Sport. The family business now consists of the grandson of the company founder, Günter and his wife Christa Hammer, a sales manager and a clerk. The company is based in Neu-Ulm. Hammer Sport also takes over the German general distribution of the world-famous volleyball balls from Mikasa (supplier of Olympic Games, World and European Championships).

In 1985 the ski factory and the “erbacher” brand are sold to Rosi Mittermaier , Christian Neureuther and the Mayer family.

In 1989 Hammer Sport developed a range of home fitness equipment with several innovations. This includes the first fillable plastic dumbbells made using blow molding technology, the patented on-board computer for rowing machines, and fitness equipment with an integrated radio.

In the mid-1990s, the Hammer Sport range was expanded to include boxing and martial arts accessories. In order to do justice to the growth and the increased market importance, the company is converted into a stock corporation in 1999. In addition, the construction of the warehouse and administration building in Neu-Ulmer Von-Liebig-Straße is being tackled.

Several innovations such as 3D saddle movement, high-tech aluminum pedals and the introduction of the TPA (Training Plan Assisted) system for cardio machines were part of the production line. The patented Nordic Walking treadmill received the innovation award at ISPO 2004 .

The premium brand FINNLO is introduced in 2005. In 2007, a multi-gym without weights, the FINNLO Bio Force, which works with TNT resistance technology, will be built under this.

In 2009 Hammer Sport developed the Men's Health POWERTOOLS in cooperation with the lifestyle magazine Men's Health .

In 2010 the wellness brand FINNSPA is introduced. (Infrared cabins and massage chairs)

In 2011, HAMMER introduces the HAMMER HYBRID brand and sells electric bicycles

Over the years, HAMMER SPORT has opened 9 stores across Germany and one in Zurich.
