Michael Alan "Mike" Adams (born February 20, 1965 in Banwell ) is a former English football player .

Career

Adams came in 1981 as Apprentice (dt. Trainee) to Bristol Rovers . There he received a professional contract in February 1983 and made his league debut in the Third Division on the last day of the 1982/83 season . The day before the game against Cardiff City , coach Bobby Gould resigned and interim coach Ron Gingell brought Adams into the game, which was also the last game for the 1966 world champions, Alan Ball . After another competitive appearance the following season, a 2-1 win against Southend United in the Associate Members' Cup , to which he contributed a goal, Adams was awarded in March 1984 to Bath City in the Alliance Premier League , the top division below the Football League .

During the break of the season, the dangerous midfielder was signed by Bath City and played a total of 175 competitive games (22 goals) for the club in the following four years. He scored one of his most important goals in the first round match of the FA Cup 1986/87 when his winning goal to 3-2 in stoppage time against Aylesbury United led to a clash against local rivals Bristol City (0-3 in the replay). His affiliation with Bath City ended in the summer of 1988 after he had not received a contract extension from new coach Harold Jarman after relegation to the Southern League . Adams then played in amateur football in the Western League for AFC Weston-super-Mare and Keynsham Town .
